New Mayor supports the Appeal

On Thursday 11th May, one of our patrons, Cllr Carol Melvin, was elected Mayor of Hillingdon. She announced that she will be supporting three charities during her year in office, one of which is The 1st Northwood New Scouting Centre Appeal! Thank you, Carol.

Another £5k for the Appeal

On Friday 28th April, Northwood Residents’ Association (NRA) presented a cheque for £5,000 as their contribution to 1st Northwood Scouts’ £100,000 Appeal for funds to build a new Scouting Centre.
The occasion of the presentation was the NRA Road Stewards’ Social evening, which is organised every year as a small “thank you” to Road Stewards for all their hard work throughout the year.

NRA Chairman, Tony Ellis said, “We are delighted to support this project which will result in a much-needed new Scouting Centre for many of the young people from our community.

Group Scout Leader, Mike Bennett replied by saying “The Group appreciated the generous donation which will give a great boost to the appeal.

‘Easyfundraising’ is exactly what it says!

This idea could raise us a great deal of money!
All you have to do is register at www.easyfundraising.org.uk and select “1st Northwood Scouts New Hut Appeal” as your good cause. (Please note there is another Group on there with the same name as ours called “1st Northwood Scout Group” from Cowes on the Isle of Wight – please don’t select the wrong one!) Then whenever you make an online purchase at any of the stores listed on their site, such as Boots, Amazon, John Lewis, Expedia, Argos and hundreds more, you place your order via easyfundraising instead of going direct, and we get a donation. It costs you nothing, and gains us a lot of money.
When you do sign up, please click the Donation Reminder facility, then if you were to forget to use easyfundraising and go direct to a site that qualifies, it will prompt you to go via the correct route. How clever is that!

£100,000 APPEAL FOR NEW 1ST NORTHWOOD SCOUTING CENTRE

An enlarged and modern facility for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers

APPEAL LAUNCHED. On the 1st of March at Fairfield Church in Northwood Hills, the 1st Northwood Scout Group launched its £100,000 appeal to replace the existing Scout Hut with an enlarged Scouting Centre. The launch was attended by the Mayor of Hillingdon Cllr John Hensley, and the Deputy Mayor Cllr Carol Melvin; there were also several other important guests present including all three Northwood Hills Councillors, Chief Inspector Rob Bryan and some of his staff, and several members of the REN District senior team. The hall was filled to capacity with guests and many young members and their parents.

At the end of the meeting, Nigel Stone, the Bursar of St John’s School, presented a jumbo cheque to the Group for £1,000, kick starting the fundraising appeal.

We are fortunate to have as our Patrons for the appeal Nick Hurd MP and Councillor Carol Melvin. Nick Hurd was unable to attend, but addressed the meeting via a pre-recorded video.
